05/30/2024: Digital painting work in progress

Currently focusing on creating characters in 3D space, as I tend to draw floating people with no environment. Had fun drawing some of my music gear from photo reference. The lines of the gear will be painted over to create a more 3D effect and will be condensed into one layer once I’m finished with all the details. I’ve found over the years that painting in one layer creates a more cohesive color palette. I like to treat my digital paintings with a similar process to my traditional ones, like creating a monochromatic underpainting (the current stage) and adding more color and dimension later.

Krita has been my current preference for digital painting. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend it. As a lightweight program, I’ve had no issues with lagging or crashing despite the dimensions being 4000x4000 pixels.
